Check out these anti-trafficking websites!
Polaris Project
They are the 'Camelot' of the anti-trafficking websites on the web. There is a strong visual approach in the design. It immediately
teases the visitor to find out more about it. Good mixture of dark blue elements and black'n'white motives.
Extremly aesthetic and worth every penny.
Face To Face : Bulgaria
Now this was a new kid on the block for me. Very well looking, clean and self-confident. It could be a website for fashion design.
And there is really no reason why an anti-trafficking website should look shabby. And they are not afraid of strong
photography and that's why people will remember their website. A great online presentation! Bravo!
HumanTrafficking.com
A sequel to Polaris Project. Same coolness, same quality, same clean deisgn. And of course an great archive of informations.
Well, there is really no reason why a library should not look tasteful.
Animus Associations Bulgaria
Excellent work done by D.Petrova aka
Fandango Design.
Pleasing and female choise of colors and a tasteful use of CSS. I especially liked the eyes in the banner section.
Knowing the artist myself, I could imagine that she had even better things and visuals in mind, but the NGOs themselves
sometimes simply get too scared to look too good and refuse powerful proposals...
Focus On Trafficking
Another one of the few eye catching websites. Excellent designed website informing about the
situation in the baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The project is a part of the huge
IOM and SIDA. Just look at the various motivs of skin
and hooks in a sort of SM-style. Great idea and very expressive. As far as I heard, this has been
part of a bigger campaign with posters and so on. Very expressive! Why can't it be always that
good? Guess because phantasy is a rare gift. I hope they will never change this photographic
motives or keep it somewhere in an online archive for future visitors to see (I think they already put some of
them away! What a pity!).
Fundación ESPERANZA
A project from Colombia and the Dominican Republic: The Fundación ESPERANZA (the ESPERANZA
Foundation) was created in Holland in response to the work initiative of two women, one Colombian and the
other Dutch. I really liked the intelligent motive of the naked woman skin with a barcode on it. Propose that to
some german NGO and they shoot you on the moon.
Amnesty for Women - Germany
They work with warm and crayon colors in quite a wild mixture - but it all fits together. Also the multi-frame
solution is couragious and hardly seen on this kind of websites.
Ex Oriente Lux
Well my own baby - last but not least. I can't help it, but I some kind of like it. I remember all NGO people being upset by
the fact it's having this black background and this dramatic, sad atmosphere. Well, welcome to my world. I am not so happy
with some of the photomaterial used there. But it is quite time consuming to create and implement good photography. Maybe
one day. Well let's not forget - we never get paid for this kind of work... :-)
Well folks, that's all I know from this area.
